Flashing Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0 in Samsung Galaxy Pop/Mini GTS5570.

UPDATE!!! November 18 Latest Stable Cyanogen Mod 7 for Samsung Galaxy Mini is available. Read through this link to know more about it.

Cyanogen Mod 7 is a custom rom that is based on latest version of gingerbread 2.3.5 operating system. It is one of the best rom for gaalaxy pop/mini users of its flexibility in providing users with a lot of customization options. It is also very perfect to geeky users who wants to test many things on their smart phones as this rom comes pre-rooted and it can be overclocked or underclocked according to our preferences. If you are about to flash any custom rom on your galaxy pop/mini, I recommend you go with cyanogenmod 7 rom.

In this useful article I will explain you how you can flash or upgrade to Cyanogenmod 7 rom. Please follow the instructions carefully and don't worry cause this method is tested in my galaxy pop gts5570 smart phone. But, I won't be responsible if anythings happens to your phone. It is often recommended that you charge your phone above 80% while doing such flashing and upgrading stuffs.

1. First of all you should have gingerbread operating system to install a custom rom (Because CWM recovery, which is rudimentary for installing custom roms, doesn't work on android 2.2 devices.). So, if you don’t have gingerbread installed on your device please read ‘Upgrading to Samsung Galaxy Pop/Mini to Gingerbread 2.3.4’ article to install it manually.

2. Flash Clock Work Mod Recovery which you can download from here.

3. Download the Cyanogen Mod 7 rom from the links given at bottom of this article.

4. Put your newly downloaded zip file in root directory of your sdcard.

5. Reboot your device in recovery mode. Use volume keys for navigation and home key to select an option while you are in recovery.

6. If you want you can do a nandroid backup of your current rom through the option ‘backup and restore’ in CWM recovery.

7. Wipe data and cache from the options ‘wipe data/reset’ and ‘wipe cache partition’ respectively.

8. Select the option ‘install zip from sdcard’ and then select ‘choose zip from sdcard’ option.

9. Choose the zip file you downloaded and copied to your sd card earlier and select it.

10. Wait till it finishes installing your cyanogenmod 7 in your smart phone. After it is completed, wipe data and cache again and reboot your device.

Congrats! You have successfully flashed your precious galaxy pop/mini gts5570 smart phone with latest release of cyanogen mod 7 rom. Incase you don’t like cyanongenmod 7 rom you can revert to original gingerbread rom anytime by following the porcedure you used to upgrade to gingerbread at the beginning. If you have followed the above steps carefully you probably won’t have any problem. But, still if any problem arises please feel free to ask in comments.

UPDATE!!! September 22, 2011
FM Radio now works with cm7. So, those who were worried that they won't be able to use FM radio on their Cyanogen Mod 7 rom can flash the Radio Fixed version of CM7 from the download link given above and then install Spirit Fm app from market. Note that the overclocking kernels given above don't work with this update of cyanogen mod 7, but they are likely to come in near future. So, don't flash them right now. Also you will have to copy the modules to their respective location after updating. Also mic bug is fixed, so don't patch again from the above link (radio will not work if you do so).

UPDATE!!! October 2, 2011
Latest version of Cyaongen Mod 7 based on gingerbread 2.3.7 with all bug fixes including bugs such as mic bugs, wifi error, HQ videos, etc is available. Not only this it has huge boost in performance other many aspects are improved to make it the best rom available. Flash it right away. Read Upgrade to Latest Cyanogen Mod 2.3.7 on Samsung Galaxy Mini article, I wrote for your easy reference.

  1. do I need to flash MIC Bug Fix Patch and copy modules Cifs.ko and Tun.ko if I download Cyanongenmod 7.1.0 RC1 oc748_audio_video.zip?

    ReplyDelete
  2. @mitramatri Yes you'll have to copy cifs.ko and tun.ko to /system/lib/modules using root explorer or similar application..
Mic recored fine even i didn't use the fix patch but i think this one for calls problems (I can't confirm cause i use my phone without simcard so never got to test it).. But there is no harm in flashing it again ...

  5. can i use cm7 rc15 on s5570?? please reply..
and how about the battery life with this release.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't think that cm7 rc15 can be installed on gts5570. Only rom ported for gts5570 can be used on it and the current latest cm7 for gts5570 is rc1.
Battery life is all good u can flash without worrying.

  8. @djegoistic Hey what are you saying about update_cifs_tun_autoins.zip. I can't understand...

Just extract the files from above and you will get cifs.ko and tun.ko and using root explorer or similar app copy them to /system/lib/modules.

    thank for the update,
i have 1 more question, is it the RC supposed to be RC1 instead of RC0(showing in the Mod version in phone setting>about).. ?? or i had mess with the ROM installation??

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Anonymous I replied to it already no you can't...
Battery life is good... You have not done anything wrong ... I also noticed when you flash the latest cm7 rom the mod version has rc0 but later it changed to rc1... (I didn't know how it happened) but its good and don't worry about it just enjoy the cm7.

  12. ok, as you said i will enjoy latest cm7! ;)

  15. @yagya,
I have little confusion on this post.
    Can you describe me...
I will now flash CM7 to GB.
    1. Installing CWM.
    2. Wipe data/ Cache
    3. Installing 7.1 tass signed.zip in recovery
    4. confusion starts from here, how to install signed zip and after reboot i want to install one by one like audio and video.zip, overclocking kernels, useful modules and mic fix.
    5. Is i want install one by one and reboot my mobile.
    6. And last confusion for me is What about Radio, is i want to installed the Download Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 radio fixed.zip which same size as CM7 file.
    Please answer my query

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Nachi To install cm7 follow step 8 and 9 i.e. CWM Menu>>Install Zip from SDcard>>Choose zip from sdcard>> Select the zip file .
After installing first reboot then you can flash overclocking kernels, audio-video.zip, mic fix, etc one by one or at the same time (you can do it how you prefer).
FOr radio download the latest Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 radio fixed.zip and install as same procedure(flash it in recovery). If you flash this one no need to flash mic bug and video bug.. Also don't flash OC kernel because they don't work with the latest radio fixed version ...

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Anonymous Please go to Settings>>Cyanogenmod Settings>>Interface>> LED Notifications>>Unconfigures>>Messaging>>LED Mode and select Force LED on ...
You can also manage LED notifications for other apps there. ALso if you want to go to system/app settigs choose Use system settings or click reset in Messaging option.

  20. @yagya,

With out OC, How the latest version of CYNOGENMOD?
Is it fine then GB or OK?
..Can you share your email id..

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Axay if you Cyanongenmod 7 .1 .0 RC1oc748 _ audio_video .zip and Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 radio fixed.zip then there is no need to flash mic patch. They already come with the bug fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nachi it is fine and works better than gingerbread. Don't worry OC will come soon... If you need OC that bad flash to a previous versions rom.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Deepa, Thank You for your suggestion (I will consider that when i get some time)...
You can root sony ericsson w8 running android 2.2 by using super one click. Read these for more info

I again try and but before install zip i wipe the data and cache then its work.

    ReplyDelete
  28. nachi plz add me on fb at http://www.facebook.com/bronstedscientificloser i need ur help then

    ReplyDelete
  29. @wrufesh, the first reboot after flashing cm7 will take a while (5-10 minutes) so be patient. Also wipe data and cache before and after flashing ...
@nachi Apps depend on user requirements, there are many out there in the market you can try them and check as many as possible (there's no fun if we don't do some research; trying apps from market is my best part). For Task Manger, you can use many apps from market. I like Advance Task Killer. Or, you can go to manage settings>running services and kill services/apps from there.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @wrufesh, don`t get tense.
What yagya telling is true.... There`s no fun if we don`t do some research any way did you try again...
    What happen to your android?
If still hanged on android, then try to clear the wipe data/cache.

  31. @yagya,
    Last question...
Sprint fm is working or any better fm is available for CM.
How to force close any application.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Spirit FM works well (First run may require some time though)... Be sure you check the Debug BCM 20780 in Spirit Fm>Settings>>Debug If it is not working...
You can force close an app by long pressing the back button. For this Go to Settings>>Application>>Development and Check Stop app via Long-Press Option.
You can search through the settings (Esp. CyanogenMod Settings) and you will get more options and tweaks, but be careful to not to change the setting that you are not sure about(you can backup a rom, so you can revert later if anything goes wrong.)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Yagya thanks,
    not working.
    Any Alternative method...
Radio sound coming but frequency is not setting.
K I have another problem, While i connecting my mobile to pc after pressing Turn on USB, I often getting restart and not connecting. What happening?
Is this problem comes when i installed directly to SD card?

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Yagya,
S that problem is solved, I moved the installed files back to internal then it solves.
Kindly give me the solution for FM...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nachi, Did u check the Debug BCM 20780 in Spirit Fm>Settings>>Debug ... ALso try to change your Regional Band to USA (or try your region, India). And don't forget to connect headset and try (because with out headset the reception is so poor that I can't listen anything without it, since our phone doesn't come with a inbuilt headset it is recommended that you connect headset all the time while using fm, but if you are very close to the station you might not need it )

    ReplyDelete
  36. thanks yagya for all
i cant wait for overclock :)
can you post some tweaks for cm7 like vm...performance

    ReplyDelete
  37. yagya do i need to install google apps im using cm7 radio fixed (in screenshot i saw you are using gapps).thanks

    ReplyDelete
  38. If you are able to configure a gmail account and able to access market then there is probably no need to install gapps... Otherwise please install them from the link above. I'm not quite sure... (i think it worked on my mobile without flashing gapps,)

    ReplyDelete
  39. can you post some tweaks for cm7 like vm...performance

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous, I recommended you play with a phone a little more and check out the Cyanogenmod Settings in the Settings....
You can set VM heap size in CyanogenMod Settings>>Performance>>VM Heap Size Option (Default value is Ok but if you are having lags or your phone is going slow you can inscrese the value to 32 or 48, test with diffrent values) Also i see u want to set governers in CPU setting, for them also my recommendation is try and see what work best for you ... (If you want to save battery, use battery saver or if you are a type who wants to go for better performance choose performance ...)

As, always I recommended you backup your rom and play with your phone (test diffrent values for diffrent settings, but be cautious for system settings) more... Good Luck and Enjoy!!!!

  42. Spirit FM not fully functioning.
I can store 5 channels after clicking right arrow and 1 button its saying !!!sorry this features is only available in paid/unlocking version.
    Can you tell me..

    ReplyDelete
  43. For me, I could save (long press the small buttons to store) many channels. I recommend you read Help available in the the program. Also, it is true that the developer wants us to pay him some money to use this feature. If you are really into Spirit Fm, you can buy it by pressing Menu>Unlock to get all the features...

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ Himashu, Don't forget to wipe your data and cache in CWM recovery menu... ALso, it takes about 5-10 minutes in boot screen for the first time, so be patience..

    ReplyDelete
  45. @yagya.

Can you share you email and link to download spirit fm you are using.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You can download latest Spirit Fm directly from market or here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm&feature=more_from_developer
Sorry, but i rarely use my email accounts (and sharing it here also means tons of spam on it). ReplyDelete
  49. @aku woko I think, it can be found at market. But, you can try it from here http://www.mediafire.com/?l36bf06h2mzsitv

    ReplyDelete
  50. before you give the ultra addres i tried that too, but it always force close...or the worse..i can't install it...i change with samsung keyboard by flashing it, because that samsung keyboard is zip not apk.. so?

    ReplyDelete
  51. thanks for all your blogs indeed they are very informative...just wantetd to ask is usb teather workin on cm7 2.3.7......coz thats the only way i can connect my pc to the internet..so wanted to be sure before flashing....

    ReplyDelete
  52. and another thing Radio Fixed version of CM7 is the 2.3.7 version right..?

    ReplyDelete
  53. @auko sorry!!! why don't you use swype or other they are much better and fast too..

@Small town boy Its my pleasure... Yes usb tether works very well. Download latest app from http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/

No, the previous one also has the radio fix... but latest 2.3.7 has all bug fixed and works great. I've update the link just now!

  54. I have a question,firstly that is what i did,
    1. Flashed Gingerbread
my market said "download unsuccessful/cannot install to sd" on froyo.
    Glad GB solved it
    2.flashed CMW,then a few sd card problem,eventually got solved.
    3.flashed a custom ROM,that is what i used:
    Download Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 tass KANG signed.zip
now the phone has exclusive features,no market
    4.then i installed gapps.zip in recovery
got the market.and synced google,(backed up contacts on google, they are back)
i also backed up my apps, which on sync market started to install, here my problem starts,

i am unable to download my basic apps on my device ,it says ,not enough space on the decive, though i have 160MB free, and i moved the only 4 apps i have to sd.
    i dont have a gmail,youtube,just gsearch,g+,how do i overcome this???

    ReplyDelete
  55. Mutz, sorry i can't help on this never had such problem.
I think reflashing CM7 can solve it. And this time flash the latest one and then install apps.

    ReplyDelete
  56. do u have any option for the keyboard, i mean another default keyborad?

    ReplyDelete
  57. You can install any keyboard from market and use it as default. But, at the time of flashing you will get only one android keyboard. You can use swype, ultra keyboard, etc as you prefer.

    ReplyDelete
  58. hey if i flash cyanogenmod audi_video_bug_fixed 748 mhz... is it necessary to get the modules or any other patch fix. ( microphone one )

    ReplyDelete
  59. Modules are necessary for all CM7. You don't need to flash mic patch with it and other, it is only for the first one...

    ReplyDelete
  60. I tried to flash the rom but after restart its stuck showing "A N D R O I D" screen

    ReplyDelete
  61. Got rid of it by installing 2.3.4 back
Imma try again cuz i know if it fails i can always go back now.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Gribonn, If you are stock at the Andorid logo, try to wipe data and cache before and after you flash CM7...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yeah, I got it working. I've got another question though.
If I'm using the newest version of CM7 (October 09) will the overclocking kernels work?

    ReplyDelete
  64. No, you can't use OC with latest version of CM7. The OC will come once the Cyanogen Mod becomes more stable with all bugs fixed. So, just wait for them. I will inform you after they are released.

    ReplyDelete
  65. clifs.ko and tun.ko for what?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Search wikipedia for CIFS and TUN and you will get the details. I have posted the links somewhere here in the comments above you can search for them too.

And please use name while commenting. Thanks for cooperation!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I upgraded twice to cyanogenmod 7.1 using above procedure both the time, the phone stucks in yhe opening logo.Any alternate procedure to upgrade?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Abhishek, Make sure you wipe data and cache after flashing CM7. If it doesn't reboot again then go back to Gingerbread, use it for some while, flash CWM recovery in Odin and then flash CM7 in CWM recovery. Wipe Data and cache and then reboot your device. It will take upto 15 minutes so be patient. After it boots flash gapps and a2sd and then you are done...

    ReplyDelete
  69. nothing seems to work on my phone i only get "ANDROID" on the right side of screen i have done everything u said but i just cant get any further...could it b bcas i hav asian version n not european

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anil, I guess you could be right... Since, I have never tested it on Asian Version... It works like charm in my European version firmware... Why don't you give it a go? Maybe it will work for you.. All the best!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Finaly got cyanogenmod i used the older version of cwr n finally did it i got stuck in boot loop but installing again cleared it its aweome n thnx yagya
@ shri try european gingerbread and the mentioned clockwork recovery not the latest
one workd for me hop it works for u too

    ReplyDelete
  72. Siri, sorry for the late reply --my network was down. I guess your problem is solved already. If not try as Anil said, since it worked for him. Also, It seems like you are not using ClockWorkMod Recovery. You need CWM recovery to flash CM7 so please flash CWM recovery using Odin one package option first. Also, there are many version of CM7 available so try flashing different one if one doesn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Siri, sorry to disappoint you but it is not possible to do so... CM7 is a rom that contains only system files and relies on stock rom for bootloader and recovery. That is the reason you need specific GB 2.3.4 XXKPK or XXKPI firmware to flash it. Did you tried with European version? Why don't you join us at this Samsung Galaxy Pop/Mini Group? It has many people for you to help and it will easy to discuss there too. Follow the link or find it in Update Page:

  74. Shri, you can connect to Kies once you upgraded to CM7 as all the Samsung apps and drivers --required for the connection-- are removed from the OS in Cyanogenmod. So, you will have to use Android Wifi Manager from Mobile Action or Mobilego from Wondershare, etc to sync with your pc just like you did with Kies.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Shri, You can find details about cyanogenmod here... http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about Try exploring other places of cyanogenmod.com to learn more about it.

    ReplyDelete
  77. @Pranav Jadav

Nope, nothing kind of tweak to flash or something. But, I sure can give you some suggestions. To improve your battery life remove tweaks from your phone, themes, unnecessary widgets and if possible use stock rom. Stock rom have improved battery.

    ReplyDelete
  78. @shri
Shir, For tethering you need to use wired tether app for USB tethering and Wireless Tether App for Wifi Tethering. You can find them easily on market or just Google them.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @shri, you can download wired_tether latest version from http://android-wired-tether.googlecode.com/files/wired_tether_1_4.apk . Just copy it to your sd-card and run it to install it.

  82. Hi Yagya,
Do I have to follow all of these steps or am I missing something?
    1) Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 tass KANG signed.zip
    2) Reboot
    3) Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 radio fixed.zip
    4) OverClocking Kernels
    5) Copy Cifs.ko and Tun.ko to /system/lib/modules

    ReplyDelete
  83. By the way, when I click on #3 seems to be like #1. Is it the same?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Chanchoth, this is an old article. try this for flashing latest stable and bug fixed CM7 http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/11/download-and-flash-latest-cyanogen-mod.html

Everything is explained above. And, by the way I couldn't get your #1 and #3 thing. Sorry, for that. Follow above link and you won't haven any problem. OC for latest CM7 (the link given) are due to come so wait and no need to copy tun.ko and cifs.ko in the latest version.

Also, I will have to go for today. Just leave a comment and I will reply tomorrow. Also, you may subscribe to comments (from top left) and get updates on comments on your RSS reader. Read about and contact page for more help and some tips.

    ReplyDelete
  85. okay i have sent the ask to join group already ^_^ i would be happy to help! now just need to overclock my galaxy mini cm7 hehe thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hi Yagya, what I mean about #1 and #3 is that the file name that you put in this link Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 tass KANG signed.zip seems to be the same as Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 radio fixed.zip. I try also your link http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/11/download-and-flash-latest-cyanogen-mod.html, but when I did it I am stuck by seeing the "Android" screen for more than 10-15mn.

    ReplyDelete
  87. chanchoth, They are different, you might have notice the name which might be similar (or even same) but the features inside the zip are different. Later one supports FM via spirit FM but the former one doesn't support FM radio at all. All the version after the later one support radio fm.

also, if you are stuck at android logo, wipe data and cache.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hi Yagya. Thanks for your response. The problem that it stuck by seeing Android screen is because am using CWM version 5 not version 4. After using CWM version 4, I could have CM7.1 in my mini.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yagya bro i have successfully installed cm7 on gb 2.3.4. ....... its fast but i cant forward videos in my samsung galaxy mini

    ReplyDelete
  90. pk, Patience is the key to success! Anyway for your video problem use another video player from market or Google. QQ Player is a nice video player app.

    ReplyDelete
  91. i tried mvideo player but same problem......
have to say that cm7 has some good features

    but some bugs also

    ReplyDelete
  92. PK, maybe you have older version of cm7. Try the latest one CM7 17112011.zip(November 17) since it has most bugs fixed. Also, for your video problem mini is to watch small video with not so high density, try converting them to the format mini is supposed to play (i.e. mp4) for smooth playback.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Is it nessecary to wipe data???

    ReplyDelete
  94. is there any existing audio video fixed for cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1?

  95. HPS, it is not necessary to wipr data if you already had cyanogen mod rom. However, if you don't wipe data you might get stuck in a boot loop. If that is the case reboot your device in recovery and wipe data.

  96. H20, The bug in audio video has been solved long ago in the release of Cyanogen Mod. SO, don't worry about any bugs. As I said above it is almost bug free and works fine. So, go ahead and flash it.

  97. can i change the boot animation? if yes,
    how?

    ReplyDelete
  98. tloren,
yes, you can change boot animation. If you are using latest CM7 RC4 then if you check nicely in Cyanogenmod Settings you will see change boot animation or similar settings and do as it suggest to change boot animation.

If you don't want to do that way then make sure you have a bootanimation (the one which youare going to replace with) and then with root explorer replace the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media/ with the new bootanimation (you will need to rename your boot animation to bootanimation.zip and might also need to set required permissions).

  99. I flashed cm7 but cant use it as dialup modem . Plz help. Thanks in asvance

  100. goutam,
You will need to set up (an APN) settings from your network operator before you can use it as a modem. You can ask your network operator for the settings if you don't know them (they vary through operators).

  101. is normal that after i install the cm7 after the reboot the screen will flashh an "ANDROID"? if yes for how long does it will take?

    ReplyDelete
  102. please need help asap. im stock on android logo, :(

    ReplyDelete
  103. joel,
Sorry for the late reply. So, it is normal to get ANDROID Screen and it also takes some time (about 5-10 minutes) during first boot.

Now, here are few thing to make sure for successful flashing of CM7. Make sure you are using CWM v4 and not latest (v5). And after flashing wipe data and cache before rebooting.

actually i have working apn . but the connection created for my stock rom does not works please tell me how to install modem and to create a connection. thanks in advance

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think the connection created on stock rom is removed while flashing the custom rom. So, double check to see if your APN is still listed and is in use. If it is not then you will need to ask help from your network operator in setting up a working connection. They will be ready to help you anytime.

  108. 2. Flash Clock Work Mod Recoverydude ye step i dint got what to do after its download

    ReplyDelete
  109. If I am getting you right... then you have downloaded CWM recovery. If so, then follow the instructions in the article Installing CWM recovery in Galaxy Mini article to flash it on your device. Then continue with the other steps. Note: You can use search bar if you need to find anything here.

    ReplyDelete
  110. You need to wipe data and cache in CWM recovery. Go to CWM recovery and choose wipe data and wipe cache options and then reboot. IT will boot fine after 5-10 minutes.

  111. we downloaded two zip files so which one to click?first?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Which two zips are you talking about? You only need to download one zip file for installing CM7 on your rom. This one is old CM7 why don't you search for CM7.2.0 RC5 here and flash it on your device.

  136. My Questions Yagya Gaire  Please reply.

    1. Can i use this on my galaxy mini 2.3.6 rooted gingerbread?
    2. should i need to install clockworkmod or not?3. Can i install this one or theres some thing that is new version and cannot harm my phone, my rom is stock rom

    ReplyDelete
  137. 1. Yes you can. It's only for Galaxy Mini.
    2. Yes. clockwork mod is essential to handle custom roms as this one. Yes, there are new version, CM 7.2 is latest one and you have RC1 which is official and other RCs upto 5.7 which are unofficial and quite experimental. Search here or browse through this http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/search/label/Cyanogen%20Mod%207
to find out about CM7 or CM7 based roms. You can easily identify the latest one.

And, if you do it correct way, following instructions properly, then there will be no harm to your device. You can return back to stock rom later on, if you want to.

  138. Thanks for your reply. :)

I have Galaxy mini gingerbread 2.3.6 but im afraid if it can harm my phone, what is disadvantage of installing cyanogen???

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cyanogenmod provides much more features and customization. Please see screenshots of CM7 (use search) to find differences as well as read through the article to find out more about cyanogenmod rom. And, there's really no harm, so try it. You can revert back to GB if you change your mind later on.
